How many people did you think suffer from migraines in the U.S.? 38 million people suffer from migraines in the U.S. How many migraine specialists do you think are in the US.? There are only 500 migraine specialists compared to 38 million people who suffer. Do you think that is a good ratio? We should probably have more migraine specialists in the U.S. for our population.

Did you know that June is migraine and other headaches awareness month? It's important enough to get a month of awareness like many other causes. Doesn't that say something about how many have migraines and how disabling they are that they have an awareness month for it. Please, be aware of people with migraines and other chronic headaches during June wherever you are.

Something I should have told you first was where the term "Migraine" is from. Originally, it was from the Greek prefix "hemi-" (half) and Greek word "kranion" (cranium), equaling hemikrania, a pain on one side of the head. Then, the word was translated in Latin, and then it was finally creating the word "migraine" from medieval France.

We already looked at how people are getting affected by the problem and how they are getting medicated, but who is paying for the research? I've found that organizations like the Migraine Research Foundation research and record information about migraines. Along with the Migraine Research Foundation, government agencies such as the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DOD) research this headache. Even the government believes that these hindering headaches are important enough to invest funds into.

Now, what triggers these headaches? According to http://www.medicinenet.com/migraine/article.htm, migraines can be caused by hormonal changes, stress, strong stimuli, and many other ways like certain foods. Wouldn't it help if you could know what started your migraines, so you never had to have them ever again.
